August wedding flowers at Coed Y Mwstwr with Katrina and Gareth
Exactly one year ago today Katrina and Gareth were married at the Coed y Mwstwr hotel in Bridgend. A charming Victorian mansion set in a leafy, wooded hillside with far-reaching views across the verdant rolling pastures of the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond. Did you know the name means name means ‘the noisy wood’, it really is a perfect wedding venue.
Katrina came to me with beautiful ideas for her August wedding flowers, wanting to use lots of seasonal blooms. She wanted a sweet palette of peaches and creams with a hint of blue throughout the wedding, which I really loved. They wanted the look for their wedding day to be elegant and relaxed.
Happy Wedding Anniversary lovely people, it was an absolute pleasure working with you on your big day.
Now feast your eyes on this blog for some beautiful August wedding flowers inspiration!
August wedding flowers bouquets
Katrina chose to have soft summer pastel flowers for the bouquets, she was really trusting with the designs and was open to my suggestions. I used lots of different roses - peach avalanche, milva peach roses, adore avalanche roses, bombastic spray roses and peach spray roses. I also used a touch of blue in myosotis and nigella which really lifted the bouquets and worked beautifully with the peach tones. Finally I used the stunning white scabious, tanacetum daisies and a touch of eucalyptus. I focused on using lots of different types of flowers to add texture and interest. They really were yummy and were the perfect August wedding flowers. The bridesmaids carried bouquets slightly smaller in size.
August wedding flowers comb
Katrina asked me to make a hair comb of matching bridal flowers to wear in her hair during the evening celebrations. These are such fun to make and look so beautiful in the brides hair.
August wedding flowers table centres
For the tables Katrina wanted a simple, understated look. They were dressed with a mix of beautiful August wedding flowers bouquets using the same flowers I used in the bridal bouquets. These were displayed in a simple jar, alongside a small tealight holder and a vase with a single rose stem. The tables were scattered with confetti which were heart shaped cutouts from maps. The top table was decorated with a mix and match of all the different types of flowers and candles. The overall look was really effective and proof that if you let the flowers do the talking the results will be beautiful. With the surrounding beautiful views this venue is hard to beat.
I was honoured to be a part of this beautiful couple’s wedding day. Katrina was thrilled with the flowers; her and her Mum's reaction was one I will never forget. It has been especially lovely seeing them both this weekend to celebrate Katrina’s anniversary; they came to one of my floristry classes, that means the world to me.
Thank you for the beautiful photos from Paul Davies Photography , I found it hard to choose which ones to use for this August wedding flowers blog.
