Beautiful pastel summer wedding flowers at De Courceys Manor.

This wedding I am sharing with you today is actually one from the archives; but it looks as fresh and beautiful today as it did then. Some weddings just stay in your head, play over and over in your memories and these beautiful summer wedding flowers at De Courceys Manor is one of them.

Emily and Mike were married on a perfect summer August day; in a beautiful church near to where their family live. They then moved to De Courceys for their wedding reception and party. De Courceys is a hidden gem; a family-owned and managed venue in the gorgeous Pentyrch countryside just outside of Cardiff. It is such a lovely venue to work at; the team there are always so friendly and helpful.

These images by Sophie Collins Photography are truly stunning, you will see what I mean. Now feast your eyes on this blog for some serious wedding flowers inspiration!

The first time I met Emily and Mike we clicked straight away and I was so thrilled to play a part in their beautiful day. At the time it was the biggest wedding I had worked on which was really exciting.

They wanted to use lots of soft coloured seasonal blooms in their flower arrangements. Of course, for the bouquets I had to use the stunning Sarah Bernhardt peony as one of the flowers, so pretty with its many frills. Usually, this beauty is the star of the show but in these pastel summer wedding flowers the champagne dahlias and those vuvuzella roses are fighting for the attention. I also used hydrangea, ammi, white stocks, peach tacazzi, sweet tacazzi, sorbet avalanche, white naomi and creamy twister roses, my favourite tanacetum daisies, scented mentha and sage, with a touch of eucalyptus. The bouquets had lovely bounce and movement. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of Emily’s bouquet. All the bouquets were decorated with long trailing ribbons that danced beautifully in the breeze.

The groomsmen wore buttonholes comprised of small posies of herbs and foliage, including rosemary, lavender. sage, hebe and eucalyptus, they smelt beautiful. Simple but really effective.

Lego played an important part of the day and was incorporated into the wedding stationery. Mike’s buttonhole included the Batman Lego figurine holding lobster thermidor; (you need to watch the Lego Movie to get this reference.)

The ceremony was held in a beautiful church in the valleys where the family lived. Pastel summer wedding flowers decorated the entrance. Milk churns were positioned either side of the entrance adding a floral welcome to the guests. The rustic door was given a little makeover with a stunning floral heart. I love making these, they are so effective and are easily transported to be used at the reception venue.

Inside the church was adorned with jam jars of flowers tied to the pew ends. I also supplied a basket of dried petals in cones to use as confetti, a much more sustainable version than paper or plastic.

Reception flowers for pastel summer wedding

The flowers for the wedding breakfast downstairs were just beautiful. Emily and Mike wanted the flowers at De Courceys to look natural and spontaneous, as though they had grown from where they sat.

The guests were welcomed to the venue with a large, long and low arrangement which sat across the mantlepiece at the entrance to De Courceys. They were invited to find their seat with this beautiful table plan made by ByJo wedding stationery which was adorned by florals on the corners.

For the tables, Emily and Mike chose these rustic crates as a key part of the reception floral designs. This look was in keeping with the flowers from the church ceremony, all of which were transported to be reused in the reception room. Each table flower display included a Lego figurine, again supplied by the clever ByJo.

For the top table I made an all-foliage garland that cascaded down the sides of the table. The bridal bouquets were placed in vases across the length of the table.

The urns from the church were place in the reception room. The jars of flowers were dotted around the venue at key moments. Each mantlepiece was decorated with flowers. Emily and Mike totally went to town on the florals… my kind of wedding!
