April wedding flowers at RWCMD
These April wedding flowers I am sharing with you today is a wedding that will never go out of fashion. Similar to that LBD, a classic white wedding will never date and will look as beautiful ten years from now as it does today.
It was a first for me, the first time setting up a wedding reception at this stunning venue, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. (I will abbreviate it to RWMCD from now on) It is set in the grounds of Cardiff Castle, bordering one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the UK.
Caitlin and Jack said there wedding vows at another fabulous, historic building in Cardiff, The Temple of Peace. They then walked across Bute Park ready to meet their guests in the magnificent contemporary glass atrium and open-air terrace of the RWCMD.
I really hope you enjoy these wedding flowers; these images by Sacha Miller Photography will blow you away.
When I first met Caitlin and Jack, they knew exactly what flowers they wanted for their wedding day. In Caitlin’s first email she said she wanted: all white flowers, a small amount of green foliage as the only other colour, Some structure but not completely unnatural, natural like a garden but not too wild. Caitlin loved classic cottage garden flowers too. Luckily for me these April wedding flowers were an important part of the day.
April wedding flowers bridal bouquets
Caitlin carried a compact bouquet full of flowers with little foliage. The shape of the bouquet really complimented the simplicity of her dress and the styling of her hair and makeup.
Caitlin’s favourite flowers are peonies but unfortunately, she couldn’t book a May wedding date so was open to alternatives. To create a similar feel I used seasonal ranunculus, so beautiful with its many ruffly petals and a great alternative to the peony. I also used these beautiful ‘Aspen’ garden roses. There was a little Sweet William in the bouquets, a nod to the groom’s name. Seasonal paper white narcissi, parrot tulips and white mondial tulips. There were also sprigs of Lily of the Valley used throughout the wedding flowers. These were used in Caitlin’s Mothers wedding flowers so were of sentimental value, little gestures like this are so important on a wedding day. These are the things you will remember.
The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of Caitlin’s bouquet.
Caitlin and Jack were married on a beautiful spring day and their day was full of April wedding flowers. The ceremony was held in the beautiful Marble Hall in The Temple of Peace Cardiff. The hall is so large, flowers can easily get lost in a room like this. We focused the flowers at the front of the hall where Caitlin and Jack said their wedding vows. A 4ft long and low arrangement decorated the registry table and two simple white urns full of seasonal flowers were displayed where the couple said I Do. I created these displays to look very natural, the tulips were flowing out of the urns, I flexed the petals to make them look more dramatic. I was really happy with the way they turned out. These flowers were transported to the reception for the next part of the celebrations.

After the ceremony the guests then moved a few minutes across Cardiff for their wedding reception and after party. When I first entered this building my heart skipped a beat. Have you ever seen such a stunning view? The all-white April wedding flowers were perfect in this venue.
When decorating tables like this you want to ensure that there is plenty of space for the bottles, drinks, plates etc. These flowers worked perfectly. I decorated these long trestle tables with simple white crockery bowls overflowing with seasonal April wedding flowers, natural in their design. The bridesmaid’s bouquets were reused in simple glass vases. Glass bud vases of white flowers in various heights and design stretched the length of the table.
It was so beautiful and worked perfectly in this amazing venue.
April wedding flowers for the top table
The long and low arrangement from the ceremony was reused on the top table and sat in front of Caitlin and Jack. The rest of the table was decorated with glass bud vases of white April wedding flowers in various heights and designs that stretched the length of the table.
So, there you go. A truly stunning day full of April wedding flowers. A huge thanks to Caitlin and Jack for sharing their wedding photos and credit to Sacha Miller Photography for all the truly beautiful images. I honestly found it hard to choose which images to use, they are all so beautiful; that’s why there are so many!
