Peony wedding flowers, Cardiff.
The beautiful peony, probably the most sought-after wedding flower, and peony season is almost upon us. To celebrate this, I have the most beautiful peony wedding flowers to share with you today. Bethan and Patrin were married last May in the City Hall, Cardiff and then (after a last-minute change of venue) they held their reception at Glyndwr Vineyard. Glyndwr Vineyard is the oldest vineyard in Wales. It lies on the edge of Llanblethian in the most stunning grounds. There are even alpacas to pet.
I never met Bethan before the wedding day. We discussed ideas over the phone and via email. Bethan shared her mood board with me so I knew the look she wanted to achieve on her wedding day. Soft pinks and creams with lots of greenery, natural looking arrangements with powder blue ribbon accents; and of course, peonies. Their day was relaxed and yet so elegant. These photos from Michelle Huggleston Photography are just wonderful, as you will see.
Now feast your eyes on this blog for some serious peony wedding flowers inspiration!
Bridal bouquets - peony wedding flowers.
Of course, for the bouquets I had to use the stunning Sarah Bernhardt peony as the focal flower, so beautiful with its many frills. As you can see, it really is the star of the show in all the bridal bouquets. I also used cream Norma Jean scented roses. pink Madam bombastic spray roses and scented Champagne King lathyrus. These were accompanied by astrantia, ammi visigna, spirea, light pink eustoma and forsythia foliage. The bouquets were asymmetric in shape, loose and had lovely bounce and movement. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of Bethan’s bouquet. All the bouquets were decorated with long trailing ribbons of powder blue that danced beautifully in the breeze.
Flower comb - peony wedding flowers.
Beth asked me to create a floral hair comb to sit atop of her veil. These are becoming a really popular addition to the bridal party flowers, you can see why. The colours were a perfect complement to Bethan’s stunning hair colour. It was lovely to see her wearing it throughout the day in the beautiful photos.
Peony wedding flowers - buttonholes.
The buttonholes comprised of small posies of herbs and foliage, including rosemary, hebe and astrantia, they smelt beautiful. Simple but really effective.
Reception of peony wedding flowers.
It was the first time I had set up a wedding at this hidden away vineyard in Llanblethian. Glyndwr Vineyard was the perfect backdrop for such a relaxed and beautiful wedding day. The surrounding scenery was so stunning, there was no need for lots of flower arrangements. All the flower displays were concentrated in the marquee. The floral displays began with the natural greenery garland I attached at the entrance. It is a subtle way to invite the wedding guests to enter the marquee where they were met with tables full of small arrangements packed full of roses and peony wedding flowers.

Inside the marquee the guests were sat at informal trestle tables. The floral displays were a mix and match of arrangements in glass jars of varying heights and some soft pink cut glass vases. All the bridal bouquets were added to the tables after the photos were finished and before the guests were seated. Coloured tapered candles nestled with in the displays.
Each table setting was accessorised with a simple potted succulent (which Beth supplied). a blue napkin and pink glass. The overall effect was stunning. The light fittings were enhanced by overflowing foliage tied to the light shades; they helped to frame the room and introduce the foliage theme; they were so effective.
The styling details were supplied by lovely Michelle at Peverley Perfection who I have worked with since and I would thoroughly recommend. This marquee was such a wonderful space to dress, with the surrounding beautiful views this venue was made for a summer wedding.
The styling here in the guest book area was all by Michelle at Peverley Perfection. It was such a wonderful display. Areas such as this help to personalise your wedding day.
