Summer Wedding Flowers Inspiration

Are you thinking of taking that big important walk down the aisle in late June, July or August? Nowadays, a lot of wedding flowers are available all year round; favourites such as Roses, Lizianthus and Dianthus. However, there are still many other floral favourites with a limited season, among them some of the most beautiful summer wedding flowers. From dainty, beautiful scented blooms such as Lathyrus (commonly known as sweet peas) to those difficult to please primadonnas - Peonies and Dahlias. The beautiful, longed for sunshine of the summer months bring with it a plethora of beautiful varieties.

Today I have picked a few of my favourite Summer Wedding flowers from the last couple of years, all from real life weddings I have been lucky enough to be a part of. Each of these bundles of blooms were chosen for their summery flair and will show all the varieties that the Summer months have to offer in the way of gorgeous flowers and colours.

Don't forget to pin your faves to take to your wedding florist, and let me know which is your favourite design.

I really hope that my Summer wedding Flowers inspiration blog helps you in your decision making.

This will forever be one of my favourites. Rhian married Haseeb at FairyHill in July and wanted to carry a seasonal bouquet full of colour and delicate flowers. I created this beautiful hand tie of locally grown flowers. I used blue Agapanthus, Dahlias, Cosmos, Nigella, Crocosmia, Achillea, Mentha and Tanacetum Daisies plus grasses for that floaty look. The dainty flowers in Rhian’s bouquet were perfect for a summer wedding.

The soft, muted colours of this bouquet is reminiscent of the limpid light of long summer evenings. Hetal wanted a bouquet of soft summer shades. I used Lathyrus, double Lizianthus, gorgeous Dorchester and White Naomi Roses just to name a few varieties. Biscuit Amaranthus, Bunny tails and Dill gave the bouquet a little wiggle. It was a stunner of a bouquet and really suited Hetal, gorgeous!

Beautiful summer wedding flowers

Summer wedding flowers bouquet full of colour

I created this for the lovely Miriam who married Nathan last summer. It is full of all the colourful Summer flowers, peach and pink roses, white Dahlias, blue Delphinium, Limonium and Eucalypus. This bouquet shows that clashes of colour really work and are perfect for the Summer months. Isn’t she beautiful. Miriam loved her bouquet so much, this is lovely the message she sent the day after her wedding.

"I genuinely couldn’t comprehend their beauty when you came in with them and they were sat on the mantelpiece! They felt like the most natural thing to be holding and I was so proud of them all day."

This beautiful wedding took place at Rosedew Farm. Gosh, I loved this wedding. These toffee tones can have a tendency of looking more Autumnal but the addition of the soft pink Roses, the touch of coral and the kick of the yellow Achillea, alongside the soft, fluffy Pampus Grass ensured this bouquet sat happily in the hottest of Summer days. I love this look so much.

I love these images by When Charlie met Hannah. They show that a tonal bouquet of one colour can work beautifully. Here I have used a variety of flowers and textures in various shades of pink; Roses, Lizianthius, Clematis, Astilbe, Astrantia with a few daisies. Such a beautiful Summer wedding at Gileston Manor. Another pretty one to help inspire you.

I would describe this Llanerch Vineyard wedding as a classical Summer wedding. A scaled back wedding bouquet. Just a couple of the most perfect ingredients. Soft pinks and cream and the most beautiful scented garden roses - ‘Prince Jardinier’ in a simple shower style. It was the perfect bouquet for this classic wedding gown and this most beautiful bride.

Summer wedding flowers with peonies

I had to include a Peony bouquet in this blog. But please remember that it is only the early Summer months when you can use peonies. Did you think wine was more of an Autumnal colour? Think again. This summer bride held a deep-hued  bouquet featuring in-season blooms - Peonies, Dahlias, Scabiosa. To choose a colour theme this rich in the Summer is quite unusual but wow, did it work! Bex and Matt were a dream and the venue, Gileston Manor House, was the perfect backdrop for their Summer wedding. I had to write a blog about this wedding. You can read more about this stunning day HERE

What do you think? Are you feeling inspired or more confused? There are so many options open to you. Are you going bold with your colours or are pastels more your vibe? Don’t forget, I am here to help and guide you in your decision making if you need me.
