Beautiful July wedding flowers with Rhian and Haseeb
Some weddings just suit you and you know it will live in your dreams for a long time. You meet the couple; or actually just the bride over many zoom calls in this instance, and you just click. You enjoy getting to know them that you actually miss your little chats and catch ups after the wedding is over. You just understand what they want and they trust you to deliver. I was lucky enough to play a part in such a wedding. It was full of the most beautiful July wedding flowers and truly looked like something out of a wedding magazine.
Rhian was such a dream to work with and I really missed our little chats. When we first spoke, a little over a year before her wedding, Rhian had the most amazing ideas for her flowers. Natural looking, colourful wedding flowers, full of seasonal blooms, the perfect July wedding flowers.
These photos from the wonderful Kate Stuart Photography are just wonderful, as you will see. The colours and the atmosphere of the day at Fairyhill are beautifully captured. Congratulations you lovely people, it was an absolute pleasure working with you on your beautiful day.
July wedding flowers bridal bouquets
Rhian wanted her flowers to reflect the season. She wanted her bouquet to have a ‘wildflower’ feeling. I sourced some of the flowers locally from Blue Hill Flora and this really helped to achieve that natural look, full of texture and colour. Perfect for her summer July wedding flowers. I used blue agapanthus, dahlias, cosmos, nigella, crocosmia, achillea, mentha and tanacetum daisies plus grasses for that floaty look. The dainty flowers in Rhian’s bouquet were perfect and really suited her understated and stunning wedding dress.
Her bridesmaids wore different style dresses in beautiful tones and carried smaller versions of Rhian’s bouquet.
Ceremony full of July wedding flowers
Rhian and Haseeb had their hearts set on an outdoor wedding ceremony and this amazing venue; Fairyhill , Swansea, really hits the spot.
The walkway to the 'wedding vow area’ was lined with flowers made to look like slices of meadow, full of July wedding flowers displayed really naturally. These were then moved to the reception area where they sat in front of the top table.
The ‘I Do’ zone was decorated with these pillars of flowers. They were designed to look natural, as though they had grown out of the ground and attached itself to the pillars behind. As you can see, they were bursting with flowers and was full of different textures and foliage.
The flowers were created on a frame without the use of floral foam #nofloralfoam. (If you would like to learn more about the no floral foam movement click here.) For the more delicate flowers I used flower picks so they had a water source. It looked perfect the next day when I came to break down the flowers.
The groomsmen wore small posies of matching July wedding flowers tied with ribbon, they worked perfectly with the colourful pocket squares.
Reception room at Fairyhill
The tables for the reception were decorated with glass urns which I sustainably sourced from charity shops in the surrounding area. Of course, they didn’t match but this look really enhanced the natural, relaxed feeling of this beautiful day.
Again, these floral arrangements were created without the use of floral foam. I used a chicken wire structure to help keep the flowers in place.
The tables were also decorated with candlesticks and hand dyed runners supplied by Harriet at One Splendid Day.
The top table was lined with lots of vintage bottles in varying shapes and sizes, again One Splendid Day provided these. I filled them with the same seasonal July wedding flowers. This look is really effective and works perfectly in front of the expansive window at Fairyhill.
The wedding cake, made by a family friend, was decorated with edible flowers, in keeping with the natural flower displays.
It was such an honour to play a part in this wonderful wedding. A sunny day, filled with so much love and full of July wedding flowers is a perfect way to spend a work day. And when you see the family the next day, and the Mum cries because she is so happy with the flowers and they give me cake to take home, what more can I say? Pretty bloody awesome!
A huge shout out to Kate at Kate Stuart Photography for these wonderful images. You have captured the atmosphere of the day beautifully. There were so many beautiful photos to choose from.
