If you are considering getting married at this stunning Lodge and Lakes then I have the most beautiful Canada Lodge Spring wedding flowers to share with you today. Rhian and Aled were married on one of the wettest, rainy days in May. Not that you would know it from these beautiful images by ALS Photography. They didn’t let the typical Welsh weather dampen their wedding day, in part because this venue works perfectly in all weathers. One of the reasons that make it one of the most stunning wedding venues near Cardiff. Canada Lodge and Lake offers a rural idyll just a stone’s throw away from Cardiff city centre.

These photos from are just wonderful, as you will see. I absolutely loved this wedding; it was such a pleasure working with this gorgeous couple on their big day.

Now feast your eyes on this blog for some serious wedding inspiration!

Canada Lodge Spring wedding bridal bouquets

When Rhian first came to meet me to discuss her flowers, she had strong ideas as to what her wedding was to look like. Flowers were an important aspect of her wedding and she wanted bright and colourful seasonal flowers everywhere! She was really trusting with the designs and was open to my suggestions.

For the bridal bouquets I focused on using lots of different types of flowers to add texture and interest. The star of the show was the coral charm peony; it really is the most beautiful and bold peony. I used clashing colours of bright blue delphinium, orange carthamus, purple clematis, yellow craspedia and lilac fifth avanue roses. These bold colours were balanced with the delicate tanacetum daisies and thlaspi green bell foliage. With a little solomon seal from my garden and flowering mint and lavender, which added the most wonderful scent, the bouquet was finished. It was a beauty.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets slightly smaller in size and simpler in design. The flower girts carried small posies of tanacetum daisies.

Ceremony room at Canada Lodge Spring Wedding

In the ceremony room we brought the outside in. The aisle chairs were adorned with these sweet posies of bridal flowers. Decorated paper bags with candles lined the aisle.

The showstopper of the ceremony was the floral arrangements around the pillars in the room. I designed them to look like little slices of spring meadows, they are growing out from the shelf and are naturally flowing. They were so effective.

The windowsills were decorated with posies of bridal flowers. This room is always such a wonderful space to dress.

Canada Lodge Spring Wedding reception flowers

The reception tables were a mix and match of floral arrangements in different size jars and vases; some sprayed with brass paint, others decorated with lace. These were placed on a wooden setting which was raised on a bed of moss adding to the natural look. There was a lavender plant on each of the tables, these made a lovely memento for the guests to take home. Lavender carries the meaning of love so it’s a lovely flower to use for a wedding.

Behind the top table I created a curtain of flowers. This made sure the focus was on the bride and groom. It was a riot of colour in keeping with the other flowers. It was particularly effective because it sits in front of the mirror behind the table, the reflection making it even more of a statement piece.
