Beautiful September wedding flowers at St Fagans Castle

Autumn is probably my favourite season. I love the slight chill in the air, the promise of fallen leaves, Strictly being back on TV! If these beautiful September wedding flowers I am sharing with you today, full of lush autumn colours, do not convince you to consider an autumnal wedding, then I don’t know what will.

Jenny and Jamie were married on a perfect autumnal day in the beautiful Welsh landmark of St Fagans Castle. This Elizabethan manor not only has the grandest settings inside but has such beautiful extensive gardens, with fountains, the Italian Garden and a rosery, perfect for those outdoor wedding shots.

These images by Shelley Daniel Photography are truly stunning, you will see what I mean. Now feast your eyes on this blog for some serious wedding flowers inspiration!

September wedding flowers bridal bouquets.

I never met Jenny and Jamie face to face but when we spoke by zoom and email, they had a clear idea of the look they wanted for their small intimate wedding at St Fagans Castle. They wanted only close friends and family at the wedding but the flowers were an important aspect of their beautiful day. I absolutely love an Autumn wedding so was thrilled when they asked me to be a part of their wedding day.

They wanted the flowers to look natural and wild, to reflect the season and be in keeping with their beautiful venue, coffee and orange in colour with a touch of blue.

I used lots of seasonal blooms in their flower arrangements. The focal flower was the beautiful Cafe Latte rose, so pretty with its many frills. The scented Caraluna garden roses and Helenium bought the orange to the flowers. I used seasonal Eryngium and Viburnum berries for the blue. I also used Cappucino roses, Dianthus St Viper, some Daucus (black dill), and hot biscuit Amaranthus, a favourite for this time of year. The bouquets had lovely bounce and natural movement.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of Jenny’s bouquet. The men wore buttonholes of wired Cappucino roses, Jamie with extra eryngium heads.

Ceremony flowers.

The beautiful intimate ceremony was held in the Castle at St Fagans. The room was perfect suited for a small number of guests and was perfect for an autumn wedding.

The aisle adorned with jam jars of seasonal flowers tied to the chairs. On the registry table I placed a three-foot arrangement full of September flowers. All of these arrangements were moved to the reception room where they added decoration to the top table.

Reception flowers

The wedding breakfast only needed a few tables to accommodate the guests. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were reused in simple vases for the main centrepiece. I then added a few extra displays of Cafe Latte roses and Daucus. Jenny had crocheted the sweetest little tealight holders in seasonal colours.

For the top table the long and low arrangement from the ceremony took centre stage. The jars from the aisle were also reused here and across the length of the table sat bud vases and bottles of fairy lights.
