Wedding flowers consultation process

If you are looking at this page then you are most likely at that super exciting time of your wedding planning, the wedding flowers. Welcome!

If you have had a nosey at my site you will see that my whole ethos is to put you at ease and help you enjoy this planning process, which I know can be stressful. Personally, I feel far more confident when I know what to expect. So I thought I would write this blog explaining exactly how my consultation process works. Sounds good? Then read on.

What is a consultation?

The word ‘consultation’ sounds much fancier than it actually is, it is where we meet up and get to know each other.

Before considering working with me you need to see if you like me, (and I you). After all I am going to be a part of this most exciting time of your life, I even see you on the morning of your wedding.

You get to ask me questions, pick my brain and look at some of my wedding portfolio. By the end of this meeting, my intention is that you feel a whole lot more informed about your flowers, have a much more specific idea of what your wedding day will look like and, of course, be confident that I am the florist to design the flowers of your dreams.

How does it work?

Step 1 : Hopefully you have had a good look at my website and follow my social media pages. You like what you see and are are confident my personality and style will suit your vision and we will be a good fit.

If reading this page is the first time ‘we have met’ then scroll down to the links below, for my wedding and gallery pages, that’s a great place to start.

Step 2 : Drop me an email via my contact form giving me as much detail as you can about your wedding day. I know us Brits hate to talk about money but it really is best to state your budget right away. Just so that you and I are on the same page and I can set expectations on what arrangements your money can achieve.

Then the fun starts!

I will email back within 48 hours. If you don’t receive a reply ensure you check your spam folder.

Everything you need to know

Step 3 : We arrange a time to meet up to discuss all your needs in detail, we can do this via a phone call or zoom if you prefer, I always enjoy a face to face chat over a cuppa. This complimentary consultation usually lasts around an hour.

You have done your research and if you are able to, you will come to the meeting with images of the look you like. Some of my couples come fully prepared with a wedding folder, others just have a handful of screenshots. There is not right or wrong. I need a few ideas so I can get a clear understanding of how you want your wedding day to look. By the way your inspiration might not necessarily be just flowers but colours, dresses, invitations, etc; anything that inspires you. And please do not feel pressured by this. Just bring images that you are drawn to, I want to get a feel for the mood you want for your wedding day. We will talk about your likes and dislikes, your interests. Everything helps paint a picture of what you want.

Please remember, you don’t need to know about flowers, that’s what I am here for! I am here to guide and help you.

Step 4 : I will ask you some basic questions so if possible come prepared with the answers. Nothing too taxing: are you having bridesmaids, groomsmen, how many guests etc. Will you need any prop hire, for example candlesticks? I know at this meeting you will not have final numbers but a rough idea is great as it enables me to give you a more accurate quote.

Step 5 : Let me know if you have booked any other suppliers. We really are collaborators for your wedding - I speak to your cake person to arrange flower delivery, your hair dresser if you are having flowers in your hair, your photographer to ensure the flowers are there for when they arrive on site and so on.

Step 5 : I will get back to you with a detailed proposal based on our discussions. I will quote for the wedding flowers of your dreams. I record the names of the flowers I plan to use and attach a few inspiration pictures. I want you to feel secure that we are working together to design your perfect wedding flowers.

This quote is not set in stone. Obviously I know things change; guest numbers, table numbers, sometimes even the whole theme can change, This is not our final meeting and everything is finalised nearer the time.

I also send you a copy of my Terms and Conditions, you need to agree to these.

Step 5 : Once you decide to move forward with securing your wedding date you pay the booking fee and I will save your date. Please remember I only book one wedding a day so you will have my full focus. I will be happy to advise you and give you general wedding advice further along the way as your plans take shape. You can expect efficient communication at every stage of the planning process, from initial consultation to delivery on the day itself.

Step 6 : Nearer the wedding day we will arrange to meet up again and go through all the final details, final numbers, delivery times and so on. This will usually last 30 minutes, unless we get caught up chatting. I do like to hear about how you are feeling.

Step 7 : A couple of weeks before the wedding I will email to check in and, yet again, ensure that there are no last minute changes. I will also call the day before to let you know how beautiful the flowers are!

On the wedding day

It’s time to relax, sit back and enjoy your wedding day. I will be busy beavering away in the background - swan like. I will personally arrive to deliver and set up the flowers. I hand you your bouquet, making sure you are over the moon and it is everything you wanted. I also give you a quick lesson to show you the best way to carry your flowers to achieve the finest photos.

I will liaise with the wedding venue and any other suppliers I am working with, always insisting that everything is set up to perfection. Usually, I will be on site to pin on the groomsmen buttonholes.

Your job is to get ready to be blown away by the flowers. (Extra points for tears when I deliver the bouquet.)

In a nutshell, that’s how it all works.

My couples choose me because they want to work with someone who is a talented floral designer , helps them feel confident and at ease AND is emotionally invested in their wedding.

If you think we might be a good match what are you waiting for? Get in touch. I can’t wait to meet you and be a part of your day!
