5 reasons you don't want cheap wedding flowers

Of course we all like to shop around for the best deal. There is something about saving a few pounds on that item you have had your eye on for ages. You can even get a buzz from it! BUT this is not the way to shop for your wedding flowers. Searching for ‘cheap wedding flowers’ is not the way to find the floral designer who will create your dream flowers. In this blog I will share my 5 reasons you don’t want cheap wedding flowers.

  • Do you need wedding flowers?

I would like to start this blog by stating that not every couple considers flowers a priority for their wedding and that is fine. Your wedding - Your way. Heck, if you don’t like flowers why have them at your wedding? Don’t have them on your table centres, don’t even carry a bouquet! I am not trying to put myself out of a job here but seriously, why have flowers at all? I am not one to follow traditions if I don’t want to. I stayed with my husband the night before my wedding and we didn’t have a traditional Hen/Stag do. Some rules are made to be broken. So save your money if you don’t care for flowers. No flowers is definitely a better option than cheap wedding flowers.

BUT, if you like flowers why would you want them to be cheap? Is that really going to get you the flowers of your dreams?

  • Comparing apples with pears

You have decided you do want flowers for your wedding day and you shop around to get wedding flowers for the best price you can get. Now, this is where it gets tricky.

Every florist works in their own individual way and will bring their own individual experiences. You cannot buy a bouquet off the peg. Or a copy and paste version of another bouquet. I can’t exactly recreate one of my own wedding designs, never mind someone else’s!

Each floral designer has their way of working and individual way of designing. The quantity and style of flowers I naturally choose to create a bridal bouquet will be different to the recipe and design of one of my fellow florists. When a potential client is shopping around for the best deal you are not choosing between identical products.

You need to work with someone whose work you love and gets you excited about your own wedding flowers. Someone whose style will suit your vision. A florist that makes you feel special and one who is great at communication. I have written a whole blog covering this topic that I think you will find really helpful. TAKE A LOOK HERE. A floral designer who puts this much effort into their work and takes the time to make you feel this way will not be cheap. And nor should they be!

  • Working with your florist

When you first meet with your florist ask questions to learn about the process of working with them.

I have a blog which explains my process here.

When a couple books me, they are booking all my experience, my passion, my skill, my personal style; everything that makes my floristry unique. They choose me because they trust that I will interpret their ideas and vision to create the perfect wedding flowers for their wedding day.

I know where to allocate their budget to make the most of their flowers, where to use flowers to make the most impact, what flowers to use for the best effect and to get the most bang for your buck. I offer ideas of how to save money and get the most of the flowers. But if you want your flowers to be beautiful then cheap is not the way to go.

If cheap wedding flowers are your only concern you are unlikely to find a florist that will go that extra mile.

  • Cheap isn’t better

If prices between two florists differ greatly then there can only be two reasons. Either, they are not paying themselves a wage - unfortunately, I do have a family to feed and a house to run.

Or, they have two very different understandings of the way you want your wedding flowers to look. By this I mean the variety of flowers, the size of the displays and how much work will go into creating the flowers so you get what you expect and more!

I only book one wedding a day so you have my full focus and attention. Cheap wedding flowers are just not my thing.

  • Cheap wedding flowers = cheap design

This is the truth. If you want cheap wedding flowers then I am not the florist for you. And that is totally fine. Compare a Kia and Mercedes, both get you from A to B but I guarantee the ride won’t be the same.

There is a florist out there for everyone and you may be happy with the final result.

But I urge you to take a look at my reviews, they reflect the service you expect when you book a floral designer like me. Look at examples of my work, I specialize in beautiful, curated, bespoke wedding floral design. These things aren’t synonymous with cheap.

More examples of my work.

Everything you need is here.

So, what do you think? Those are my 5 reasons you don’t want cheap wedding flowers.

I hope I have given you a little insight to my point of view? This industry has enough variety and options to serve each and every taste and budget. If cheap is what you are looking for then I am not the gal for you. And that is totally fine.

My couples choose me because they want to work with someone who is a talented floral designer, helps them feel confident and at ease AND is emotionally invested in their wedding.

If you think we might be a good match what are you waiting for? Get in touch. I can’t wait to meet you and be a part of your day!
